The Northern Archives, 1823, part 8, #21:

April 27th, 1789:

General Major Baron Schultz, having ridden around the border from Serdobol and, finding it possible to enter the enemy's domains from our Ruskala outpost, had ordered the Captain of the Belozerskiy infantry regiment Mukhanov with 70 musketeers and 30 jagers to attack the troops of the enemy army which was stationed against it in the nearby villages Madkasilda and Yakimaki and to conquer those troops; which was soon completed. The loss in this case was the killed who were left there, and the wounded, a total of 18; and also they captured: one officer, two corporals and 11 privates.
A detailed report was sent on May 2nd, by # 10.

May 6th, 1789:

The enemy, having come next to our Ruskala outpost at the very midnight, was moving in two lines with six cannons right to our fortification, built here; but the musketeer troop, stationed there, of the Belozerskiy regiment, together with another one like it, which came there that time for reinforcement, had suddenly attacked the enemy so bravely, that they were forced to flee after an attempt to fight the Russian troops, leaving there 87 killed besides the wounded ones, and the three that were captured.
